Diffusers 0.41 adds Qwen-Image 2.1 with transparent output
Hugging Face Diffusers 0.41.0 landed on October 6, 2026 with Qwen-Image 2.1, which generates and edits images and can output native transparency.
Hugging Face shipped Diffusers 0.41.0 on October 6, 2026. The headline is Qwen-Image 2.1, a model that unifies image generation and editing and can output native RGBA images with transparency.
What changed
- Qwen-Image 2.1 has a 7B-parameter visual generation component and supports multiple reference images.
- The release covers text-to-image, image editing and LoRA training for the model.
- Tensor-parallel checkpoint loading lets each rank read only its own slice of sharded weights, which lowers memory use during loading.
- New LTX-2.5 DFR pipelines support keyframe slots, and Cosmos 3 gains SeaCache support.
- Single-file loaders were added for Krea 2 and MiniMax-H3.
- ONNX support is deprecated in favor of Optimum for ONNX Runtime. The
LuminaText2ImgPipelineandLumina2Text2ImgPipelinealiases were removed; useLuminaPipelineandLumina2Pipeline.
Why it matters
Transparent output is a practical feature for anyone producing product shots, stickers or ad assets. Today most pipelines generate a background and then cut it out, which leaves rough edges. One model that also edits means fewer tools in the chain. If you run image generation yourself, the loading change is worth a look too.
What to do now
- Check your code for the removed Lumina aliases before you upgrade.
- If you export through ONNX, plan a move to Optimum.
- Test RGBA output on your real assets before you drop your cutout step.
